PROJECT PREMISE
Demonstrate various pattern techniques (symmetry, scale, rotation, repetition, space, weight, etc.) using one abstract symbol. 


​TOOLS USED
The vector symbol was rendered in Adobe Illustrator,
and laid out in Adobe InDesign.

SUMMARY
I wanted to demonstrate my knowledge of different pattern techniques, so I decided to create a few spreads that showcase the aforementioned techniques.

The abstract symbol is based on my right hand making a "claw-like" gesture, and was intended to resemble an inkblot. Experimentation with color, size, scale, and negative space are evident. ​ 

The symbols are applied to a t-shirt and a coffee cup.
